Essential Oils: The Story Behind Them!

Essential OilsTo be perfectly honest – when I first started blogging, I had no idea what the difference between essential oils and regular oils were.  Now?  Well, now of course I know the differences, however do you?

Essential oils are some of the purest forms of oil and they are the most concentrated oils in the world.  They actually have to be diluted by ‘carrier’ oils such as grape seed, apricot or almond oil.  The reason for this is that you will never be able to use straight essential oils on your skin – it will not work.

Essential oils in general are in fact the essence of a particular plant or flower.  They could even be distilled from the stem, leaves, roots, bark or even the flower of that particular plant.  While these are not necessarily oil in the sense, they are a fluid.

There are many different uses for essential oils when they are diluted – aromatherapy is by far the best use for them though.
